On Wednesday December 3rd, the Year Ones and Twos held an expo to teach people about Wellbeing. We had been learning about this topic as part of our Inquiry unit. We got to choose what we wanted to find out more about and then we wrote some questions about the topic. We then researched this and worked out a way we could present our information. Some of us made posters, others made Power points and others made videos. Lots of the other classes and parents came to visit our stalls.
After school, on October 31st, all the grade ones played a few games because it was the Grade One Dinner. Just before the dinner, all the grade twos came to have pizza with us. Then they slept over in the library. In the morning it was great because of Kelly Sports. We had potato cakes and chips for lunch. After we played a few sport games we could play on the playground. Then we went back to school and we had extra playtime in the adventure playground. After play we had an icypole. We all had a great time.
Our school won the regional award for school gardens. We are so happy.
We would like to win the state final but we are also happy with our certificate and cheque.
There are a lot of children from our class in the Gardening Club and some of them got to talk to the judges.
The judges arrived by helicopter. They tried to land at our school but there was not enough room. We all rushed down to Holland Park while the helicopter circled. The whole school was watching the helicopter land.
The Gardening Club had a photo with the helicopter and the judges.
It was an exciting morning. What is your favourite part of our school garden?
Last Thursday, all the year ones and twos did some cooking to raise money for the people affected by the Typhoon in the Philippines. 1/2 E and 1/2 L made some cupcakes. We made honey joys. Our ingredients were
90g of butter
4 cups of Corn Flakes
1 tablespoon of honey
1/3 cup of sugar
First we set the oven to 150 C. Next, we melted the butter, sugar and honey together. Then we put the Corn Flakes into a mixing bowl. After that we mixed the melted ingredients with the Corn Flakes. Then we all had a turn of spooning the mixture into patty pans. Finally, we place the tray into the oven and let them bake for 10 minutes. After they had cooled down they were ready to eat. Some of us made posters to advertise our stall and Katelyn and Jacob made an announcement about our stall. We decided to sell them for $1.00 each. We made 53 honey joys. After school we sold them and they were sold really quickly. Overall our school raise nearly $2000.00 for the victims of the Typhoon.
The next day we made some more so we could have a taste. They were delicious!
Would you like to try our recipe? Let us know what they taste like.
Andrea posed the problem that she thought there would be at least two people on each table that had the same size shoes in some way. We talked about the different ways we could measure our shoes. We talked about volume, width, length, weight, area and height. First of all, we had to measure our own feet and then compare it with someone else’s shoes. We used beans, tiles, streamers, counters, rulers, beads and our own feet. We discussed how whatever we used need to be the same because you couldn’t be certain. Emma decided to put her own foot into Claudia’s shoe. She found out that her foot was too tight so that meant her foot was bigger than Claudia’s. Claudia also showed us that when you are comparing the length of something, you need to make sure the ends are matching otherwise you don’t get the correct answer.

Nude food day is a day that that we try not to bring wrappers to school.
The class that has the least amount of rubbish gets the Golden Lunch Box for the week.
The lunch in the golden lunch box is very healthy and yummy.
It starts on the 5th of June because it is World Environment Day
and it is always be on a Wednesdays.
We are going to try to go until the end of term.
We were going to do it on Fridays but lunch orders on Friday so we are doing it on Wednesdays.
This term we have been reading the story of Jesus’ Resurrection. We were asked to create a response to the story. Some of us created a play, some others used the godly play figures, some made posters and others made open minded portraits.
This year we are buddies with the children in 3/4 S. It is great to have a buddy because they can look after us on the playground and we can look after them. We are planning to do lots of fun activities with our buddies and so far we have read stories, played maths games and had lunch together. We are looking forward to sharing lots of fun times with our buddies.
What activity would you like to do with your buddy?
